Which white for baby boomers?

In baby boomer nail design, the nail tip can be designed in different shades of white .
Our nail designer roughly divides the different shades into three different shades of white. The subtle natural white appears very soft and natural, appears warm and pleasant and creates a harmonious overall picture - perfect for everyday life! In the studio, our expert usually uses a medium white . This shade is slightly more intense than natural white and forms the basis for a beautiful transition on the nails. It is suitable for every occasion and every style; the nuance is also often chosen for wedding nails. A radiant ultra white , also known as snow white, creates great contrasts and looks super sexy with tanned skin, but is rarely used by baby boomers.

The UV lamp is completely hardened (please refer to the respective product for exact instructions on how long it takes).

  1. Prepare nails
To prepare the nails for a baby boomer manicure, first carefully file off the old gel material with a nail file , if it is still present. Old acrylic and nail polish must also be completely removed. Then you shape the nails and get them to the length you want. Theoretically, you can choose any shape and length for your baby boomer nails that you like. Our expert recommends medium-length nails with a slightly rounded almond shape to achieve perfect results. After shaping, carefully but gently push back the cuticles with a suitable tool, such as a rosewood stick , and remove them if necessary. If your nails are very uneven, you can carefully work on them with a buffer and then clean them .

  2. Apply primer
In order to permanently bond your gel structure to the natural nail, the primer is used, which is brushed on thinly, dries in the air in a matter of seconds and is also called adhesive primer.
The professional product degreases the nail so that all products can adhere well - do not touch your nails with skin or hair after applying the primer to avoid re-greasing.

  3. Apply adhesive gel
Then apply the adhesive gel with the gel brush to your nail that has been prepared with the primer.
Work particularly carefully here to achieve optimal durability.

3 questions for nail designer Stefanie about the baby boomer look

As a modern version of the classic French manicure, customers in nail salons have been enjoying the baby boomer look for a long time. The popularity remains unbroken - also because you can recreate this nail design at home with a little sensitivity. But what makes this nail design so popular and how do you do it correctly? Our expert Stefanie has answered a few questions for you.

ND24: Why is the baby boomer look so popular?
Nail designer Stefanie: Natural pastel colors with soft transitions give the baby boomer a wonderful elegance that always fits. This nail design looks feminine and well-groomed; the look can even be individualized with nail art or rhinestones . In times of Corona, this look is particularly in demand because it offers a nice alternative to the French manicure, which is due to the precise lines of the white one
Tip usually requires a lot of practice.

ND24: The 3 biggest mistakes in baby boomer nail design?
Nail designer Stefanie: The proportions have to be right and fit the nail; all nails on one hand should also create a harmonious picture. That's why the slightly blurred ombré line should never be uneven at the corners or even run crooked. The difficulty is to equip the nails of each hand with a baby boomer line that matches each other, but still takes into account the individual characteristics of each individual nail.

ND24: How do you prefer to wear the baby boomer look?
Nail designer Stefanie: Personally, I think the baby boomer manicure looks best on medium-length nails that protrude a little over the tip. With slightly rounded corners and a great, even white tip, this nail design is an elegant classic that also looks great in everyday life
