Nail art stamping: 3 questions for the expert
The trendy nail art stamping offers an extraordinary nail design with many advantages. Our nail designer Stefanie will explain to you what makes the stamping polishes so special and how you can choose the right colors for your nail design.
What are the benefits of nail art stamping?
Nail designer Stefanie: “For me, the main advantage of nail art stamping is that even beginners can conjure up really interesting and beautiful nail art on their nails. For professionals in the studio, nail art stamping also saves an enormous amount of time. In addition, the result can be reproduced again and again with the same quality.”
What makes stamping varnishes so special?
Nail designer Stefanie: “The stamping polishes are special nail polishes that were developed especially for this purpose. They have a particularly high pigmentation, which means they are characterized by high coverage. If you were to use it on the nail as a full cover, the color brilliance would be achieved perfectly in just one application. Furthermore, the stamping varnishes dry very quickly. This has the advantage that the motif on the nail cannot be smudged. The disadvantage is that you have to work quite quickly so that the polish doesn't just dry on the stamp or stencil before it gets to the nail."
How do I combine the base and stamping colors correctly?
Nail designer Stefanie: “The colors of your nail design should harmonize with each other and yet offer a clear contrast so that your motif can be easily recognized. Of course, this is particularly easy with a light base tone such as nude or soft white and darker stamping varnishes for the motif. I also find stamping varnishes with glitter or metallic effects particularly beautiful. Here you can simply try out what you like. Sometimes it depends on the motif or the season that the colors should match. Anyone who has already gained some experience can also try out special features such as stamping varnish that glows in black light and create cool party looks.”

8 simple steps: Nail art stamping - here's how it works!
Our nail designer Stefanie has created step-by-step instructions for you that will help you easily create your first nail design on your nails using nail art stamping. It tells you what you need to pay attention to and where there are potential pitfalls. Be patient with yourself because this cool nail design takes a bit of practice to perfect!
- Prepare workplace
You should place your nail art stamping supplies within easy reach, as well as nail polish remover and clean cellettes. To avoid contamination on the table, you should put newspaper, kitchen roll or facial tissue underneath.
- Apply base coat
After careful preparation, apply your selected base coat as a full cover to your nail. Allow the product to dry thoroughly so that it becomes the perfect base for your further work.
- Apply top coat
After the base coat, apply a top coat and let this dry too. The top coat protects your base coat and ensures that if your first stamping isn't perfect, you can simply wipe it off and reapply it.
- Prepare template
Place the stamping polish you have chosen on the edge of the stencil and use the scraper to quickly pull it over the stencil with a little pressure so that the recesses in the motif can be completely filled. You have to carry out all the steps with the stamping varnish very quickly because it dries very quickly.
- Prepare stamp
Now place the stamp exactly on the edge of the motif on the stencil. Now press it over the entire motif with a slight rolling motion so that the entire pattern is transferred to the stamp.
- Set motif
Now place the stamp on the desired spot on your nail and roll it onto it with gentle pressure to set the design. If possible, you should carry out this step in one continuous movement so that you don't have to start again and potentially move the motif. If you don't like the way it's done, you can now remove it very quickly with a clean cellulite.
- Clean nail edge
If some of the stamping polish from your motif has gotten onto the cuticles, clean them with nail polish remover and a cotton swab. It is also possible to apply cuticle protection in advance.
- Top coat to seal
Finally, apply the top coat to your nail art stamping to seal, protect and give your nail design a flawless shine.
Clean nail art stamping accessories
Once you have completed your nail design with nail art stamping, you should definitely clean your stamping set carefully. “Even the smallest traces of varnish can cause unsightly results the next time you stamp ,” says our nail designer Stefanie. To clean, use a cellette soaked in nail polish remover and, if necessary, a cotton swab to remove any polish residue from the stencil, scraper and stamp. Be careful when cleaning so you don't ruin your fresh nail design with nail polish remover!
