Innovatives Fiberglasgel für Nageldesign

Innovative fiberglass gel for nail design

“Thin nails with flexible stability are the dream of every nail designer and of course also of customers - fiberglass gels promise to make this come true,” says our nail designer Stefanie. The fiberglass gel is an innovative building and modeling gel that has a special composition. Once hardened on the nails, this makes it particularly strong and ensures that the nails have a certain amount of elasticity and still hold their shape without breaking if, for example, they hit hard edges. They are mainly used in the professional sector to create very long-lasting and durable nail designs without weighing them down.

What is so special about fiberglass gels ?

The composition of the fiberglass gels is the secret of their success: They consist of high-quality gels to which the finest glass fibers are added during production. The job of these glass fibers is to reinforce the gel after it has hardened on the nail and thus make it harder. On the nail, conventional gel is usually softer than acrylic, but the added glass fibers make it just as hard and unbreakable. Fiberglass has long been known in nail design in the form of self-adhesive strips or fiberglass threads that can be applied to cracked and brittle nails to repair them and give them elastic strength. Particularly practical: The innovative fiberglass gels are very easy to use and are also suitable for use at home.

What is fiberglass?

Fiberglass is a plastic that has been reinforced with glass fibers. Many products with this material composition are colloquially known as GRP and, because of their durability and strength, are often used where they are exposed to high levels of stress, such as in boat building. They are characterized by a high elastic energy absorption and have a high elongation at break - this means that they are not stiff and yet retain their shape without breaking when energies arrive.

5 reasons: When is fiberglass gel used in nail design?

“In nail design, fiberglass gels and products are considered particularly suitable for customers with an active everyday life and are very resistant to lifting,” says our expert. The modern fiberglass gels are therefore primarily used in nail salons to create sophisticated nail designs that should last a long time. For our expert, they are perfect for ensuring the necessary hardness and strength of the long nail when extending with a tip or a template. The fiberglass gels are particularly suitable if nail shapes with a pronounced tunnel are to be pinched (for a particularly curved C-curve), because this form of nail design can be achieved excellently with the durable gels. “I most often use fiberglass products in the nail salon on stressed nails that are cracked or brittle. You can get a protective layer through the fiberglass gels,” says our nail designer.

History of fiberglass nails

Fiberglass products have been used in nail design for decades - for example under names such as fabric technology and wrap-coat system, which consisted of several individual components. In the 80s of the last century, fiberglass nails developed into studio quality. For the classic version, several layers of fiberglass strips (either silk or linen) were applied to the nail or tip with a special adhesive and an activator and sealed in order to strengthen it and thus ensure durable nail designs. This complex process, which sometimes had to be repeated several times on one nail, was mainly carried out by professionals in studios and was difficult for home users to implement. At the same time, gels were developed that competed with the previously dominant acrylic products. Initially, the gels, which were primarily intended as DIY sets for the home, were not very successful - the interaction between composition and lighting duration and intensity was not yet fully developed and the results were therefore often poor. After the composition of the gels was optimized, further innovative compositions such as modern fiberglass gels were later created. In addition to the fiberglass fabric fibers, they contain activators and adhesives, so that the gels can be easily applied and hardened - very easily in just a few steps. Particularly modern are 1-phase all-round fiberglass gels , which are suitable for creating all layers of nail modeling, from the primer to the structure and the finish. For example, they can be applied very easily as a medium-viscosity gel and simply move smoothly onto the nail as if by magic.

By the way: The fiberglass fibers in the innovative fiberglass gels are so fine that the gels appear clear and no residue can be seen!

How to use the fiberglass gel?

The fiberglass gel is a quick-hardening builder gel that is ideal for all types of nail modeling and can be easily used like a modeling gel. Our expert will tell you how to use the innovative fiberglass gel as a builder gel for your perfect nail design.

  1. Prepare nail

Before you carry out nail modeling with fiberglass gel , you should clean, shape and remove the cuticle from your natural nail. Then buffer and degrease with a cleaner so that the modeling can hold. You can also apply tips according to the instructions before applying the fiberglass gel .

  1. Apply primer

The primer is applied thinly over the entire nail to ensure an optimal connection between the nail and the artificial nail. The product dries out in the air - then do not touch your nails or run through your hair to prevent grease from getting on the nail.

  1. Apply adhesive gel

The adhesive gel forms the basis of the nail modeling; it cannot be replaced by the fiberglass gel unless you have chosen a 1-phase all-round fiberglass gel .

  1. Apply a thin layer of fiberglass gel

The fiberglass gel is applied thinly over the entire nail. A large amount is not necessary here, as even a thin layer of this gel ensures good durability.

  1. Cure fiberglass gel according to package instructions

Harden the gel. After hardening, the fiberglass gel can be shaped like any modeling gel. Look at it from all perspectives to ensure an even curvature.

  1. Use color gel

Apply a color gel of your choice as usual and cure it as directed.

  1. Apply sealant

Finish your nail design with a sealant (gloss gel) to protect it and aid durability.
